My Bio

I'm a graduate of the University of South Florida with a BA in Business Administration. Although my degree and career may be in business and sales, my primary interest and love are the sciences. Most of my free time is spent reading about biological evolution, geology, cultural anthropology, history, philosophy, cosmology, and anything to do with the faith vs. reason debate.

Something I have always found frustrating is not knowing where to meet intelligent and articulate people who enjoy discussing intellectually stimulating topics. While I am able to carry on a conversation about nearly any subject, my real interest is in discussing the controversial, e.g., moral hard cases, philosophical issues, everything to do with theism, atheism, agnosticism, humanism and all other belief systems.

Over the years of development of the Internet community I've found myself seeking cerebral stimulation through the Web more and more. Chat rooms and message boards have been my home for quite some time. Very troubling to me is that even in these platforms, it is still not common to happen across true intellectuals who obviously have a passion for learning and thinking deeply. Quite often forums and chat rooms seem primarily composed of people with too much time on their hands.

Recognizing the need for a new kind of community, I developed the concept for BookTalk. This community was designed to be a meeting place for bright people who are on a personal quest for knowledge. Not knowledge for the sake of financial gain, praise or recognition, but knowledge for the sake of knowledge. A truly wise man is aware of how little he really knows, and I'll admit I'm pretty much a fool. So does this make me wise?

I would be happy to share more personal information with members in the chat room, through email or even on the message boards. Greatly valuing the relationships I have made, I consider all of us here to be friends and look forward to continued community development over the years.

My Hobbies

Reading and thinking about interesting subjects such as: How did life originate and evolve? Is there life elsewhere in the cosmos? How can one best live the good life? Why do bright people believe in weird things? What happens when we die? Is there a meaning to life? How will I be remembered when I die? Why do I care? What is the difference between an orange?
